Thanks. Those pointers look good.

However, at this point, I am wondering if I should wait for WP 2.0 before I continue hacking around? I don't mind waiting a little bit if it will save me porting time later on.

You can get a nice plugin to add Trackback and Pingback moderation here: http://mtdewvirus.com/code/wordpress-plugins/.

Ha! I don't have that problem, fortunately.

It would be fine if I could force all trackbacks to be moderated. It isn't that much effort for me to bulk block them manually, but, unlike comments, they appear directly on the page.

I guess the other solution is to patch WordPress to implement this, but killing trackbacks was a 5 minute fix.

Hi Adam!

I had the exact same problem a while back and ended up swapping Wordpress in favor of Serendipity, which has been OK so far... It turned out that the spammers figured out a way to post comment and trackback spam by inserting entries into the database *before* the entries were actually made, so that when I posted an entry, there were immediately dozens of spam comments already in the database attached to the entry. *Very* annoying. Don't know if that problem has been fixed in more recent versions, but I feel your pain... :)

Cheers,

Jay
